Abrecco is working with a large central Glasgow based client to recruit an experienced SQL Server DBA to join their wider infrastructure team. You’ll be joining a skilled collaborative team to manage, maintain and enhance multiple enterprise scale SQL Server development and production environments ensuring availability and performance whilst utilising automation practices. What you will be doing:
- Administering the SQL Server development and production environments (public and private cloud)
- Maximising system uptime through monitoring systems, investigating alerts, incidents etc
- Administering Public (AWS) and Private Cloud environments
- Contributing to design discussions and making suggestions for optimisation
- Participating in the on-call rota

What you will bring:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team
- Strong understanding of Database principles coupled with excellent problem solving and operational support skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, optimize and tune multiple Microsoft SQL Server database instances
- Scripting / Automation experience (Windows PowerShell, Python, etc.)
- Experience in System monitoring, backup and recovery (tools, procedures etc.)
- A Strong grasp of automation tools (Ansible, Chef, CFengine, Puppet, Salt etc.)
- Solid understanding of version control principles, preferably using GIT
