IT Infrastructure Analyst - Edinburgh

Picture the scene…

Somethings gone wrong with my computer and I need someone to come and fix it for me.

“Have you switched it off an on again” (That’s for all you IT Crowd fans) is the first advice I’m given. And no, that hasn’t fixed the problem.

So someone arrives at my desk to check everything out for me, which is no big deal really. What really impressed me was the way this person wasn’t a Networking or Server expert, but knew enough about our entire infrastructure to get me up and running really quickly. They could tell me about everything from the servers, through the network and even the phone system on my desk..

Being a non techy person I was really impressed by this, and so I mentioned it to my client when I met them this afternoon for a coffee.

It turns out this is exactly the kind of role they wanted to discuss with me. They actually have space for someone with knowledge of a broad range of technical skills to join a small team on the server support team. (no I can’t submit the person described above because it’s not a real person)

So if you think you can help run the full IT Infrastructure from the Edinburgh office of this global company, you need to read on:

They’re looking for someone who’s happy to investigate, and take full ownership of issues as and when they arise. You’ll also be involved in a number of interesting projects including an impending Cloud migration and O365 implementation.

If you have some of the following skills and experience, it’ll be well worth speaking with me to find out if this is the right career move for you.

Client wish list:
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude and a hunger to learn
- Experience in windows Server - Network Support (Windows Servers, Citrix, SCCM etc.)
- Knowledge of MS Active Directory (GP, DNS etc.) and MS Exchange
- Voice and Data networking experience (Cisco IP Telephony, Call Manager, VOIP, SIP etc.)
- Any Cloud experience is highly advantageous (MS Azure, AWS, O365 etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot and own the problem through to resolution

Let’s be honest. This is a pretty extensive wish list and the client really doesn’t expect you to be an expert at everything, but they would like you to have been exposed to as much of this as possible. Everything else can be trained using their generous training budget and enthusiasm for personal development.
