Software Development Engineer - Windows / C# / C++ - West Lothian - Up to £45K

Our client is a leading provider of software and hardware solutions to the scientific market and manufactures a range of the highest selling and most visible products in their sector globally. Award winning and proud of their history as one of the first business’ of their kind in the UK, they are now looking to bring on board an experienced Software Development Engineer to work on the development of a variety of cutting edge systems.

You will have a background in the full SDLC in a commercial environment with Windows using languages such as C# and C++ as well as a deep understanding of OOD and excellent UI design skills. As well as this you will have experience of writing software to interface with instrumentation/hardware and of using source code management tools such as TFS.

What you’ll be doing day to day:

* Designing, coding, testing and maintaining system software for company products.
* Assisting in the production of manuals and support documentation for system software.
* Providing technical support to Production, Operations and Sales teams as required.
* Advising the company on issues that may affect performance and success.
* Occasionally undertaking off-site visits to install, service or maintain software systems and computer related hardware.

Your experience:

* Proven experience of commercial or industrial software product development.
* Broad Microsoft Windows programming experience using C# and C++.
* Proven experience and skills in designing user interfaces for complex systems.
* The ability to implement Object Oriented Design methods and patterns effectively.
* Experience and skills covering all areas of the software lifecycle - specification, design, coding, testing, debugging, installation and maintenance.
* Experience of working in a team using Source Code Management (preferably a DVCS) and Bug tracking Systems.
